Start of the rowing season

Michael trained with a vengeance earlier in the year for what seemed to be months on end, being down at Leichhardt Rowing Club at 5.00am several mornings a week ahead of the National championships in March.  He did particularly well in the Under 16s single scull at the nationals, coming 5th in the semi-finals. He then won the National B final which was contested by rowers who missed out in the top 4 in the semis.
That's Michael below left, fourth from the top in "Ross Ullo".  At that stage he was towards the back of the fleet, but finished strongly and ended up winning the heat.

Michael had a short rest during the off season following the nationals but took up rowing again in May. Training has now ramped up again, with the Nationals in March again the main focus.  The beginning of the season features quite a few "head" races.  He participated in the Head of the Shoalhaven in September in a quad with James, Lachlan, and Lloyd.  The boys did very well in the 7km race, recording the fastest time of all 32 entries, beating quite a few eights.
